Eng. Domenico Brigante Ph.D. - The construction management and the testing in the structural reinforcement with FRP systems
Structural consolidation systems based on the use of FRP materials have been one of the main structural reinforcement technologies of reinforced concrete buildings for over ten years. and masonry used throughout the national territory.
The subject of this volume is the definition of the role of the construction manager and the tester in the context of construction sites where FRP consolidation systems are placed, the technical tasks of which are summarized in the attached forms, in order to schematize and simplify the professional activities to be carried out.
The volume deals with all the regulations relating to the use of FRP systems, starting from the indications of the technical document of the CNR DT 200-04 and subsequent amendments. and the subsequent guidelines of the CSLLPP of 24 July 2009, which outline the methods of design, execution and testing of reinforcement interventions with FRP systems.
What is indicated by the NTC '08, in relation to the use of the FRP systems, is analyzed, which in chapter 11 clearly states that the materials and products for structural use, used in the works relating to the said rules, must be uniquely identified and qualified by the manufacturer and accepted by the construction manager. "Innovative structural materials and products for structural use must be in possession of a certificate of technical suitability for employment issued by the Central Technical Service on the basis of guidelines approved by the Superior Council of Public Works.”
We then move on to the analysis of Decree no. 220 of 09 July 2015, with which the Higher Council of Public Works approved the "Guideline for the identification, qualification and control of acceptance of polymer-matrix fiber-reinforced composites (FRP) to be used for the structural consolidation of existing buildings ", which allows the obtainment of the C.I.T. by companies producing FRP systems and their use for structural use in accordance with the aforementioned regulations.
This volume represents a fundamental tool for technicians who, in their role as construction manager and tester, find themselves working in the context of structural consolidation works with FRP systems.
