ANTI-OVERTURNING SYSTEM

During a seismic event, seismic shaking affects the building in all directions, stressing the infill walls in and out of plane. The out-of-plane response of the infill is negatively affected by damage in the plane of the same, therefore it is important to study the combined effect in the plane and out of plane in order to be able to design the safety of the infill walls. Interventions aimed at preventing the overturning of perimeter walls it can allow for an increase in the seismic risk class. In existing buildings, the infill panels are not connected to the surrounding frame, that is, they are free at the top and sides. The collapse mechanism involves the rigid rotation of the infill panel around the horizontal hinge at the base, formed due to out-of-plane stresses.

POSSIBLE USE

The OLYMPUS – SAFE anti-overturning system is therefore suitable for application on reinforced concrete buildings to connect perimeter and internal infill walls. The intervention can also be performed on both sides of the masonry, regardless of the type of stone element used. The anti-tipping system can therefore be applied in 4 configurations: 1) External perimeter connection intervention; 2) Internal-external perimeter connection intervention; 3) External diffuse connection intervention; 4) Internal-external diffuse connection intervention.

Low thickness anti-overturning system

Saturation of the masonry substrate with water, in order to prevent it from absorbing the mortar mixing water, forming cracks and fissures on the subsequent layers Rough coat with OLY WALL STRUKTURA F15 to a thickness of approximately 5 mm, covering the entire area affected by the reinforcement. It is important that the reinforcement is located in the centre of the mortar layer Manually apply the OLY MESH G320/G600 reinforcement according to the design specifications and gently press it into the first layer of mortar. Ensure an overlap of at least 15 cm between adjacent strips. Inserting the OLY CONNECT SAFE connectors into the prepared holes Final skimming with OLY WALL STRUKTURA F15 for a total thickness of approximately 10 mm Insertion of CE marked OLY ROPE ARAMIDE connectors via ETA, in correspondence with the concrete structural frame as reported below
