FIRE PROTECTION OF FRP SYSTEMS

Olympus has developed, engineered and qualified a fire protection system for FRP consolidation systems on existing floors, developed with calcium fibrosilicate panels, engineered specifically to guarantee certified fire resistance. REI 120. The system has been certified by the testing laboratories of Istituto Giordano SpA. The calcium silicate plates, light but highly resistant, they offer an effective barrier against high temperatures when combined with a specific sealing putty, protecting FRP-reinforced structures without compromising their functionality. Thanks to their high thermal stability, they maintain the mechanical properties of the reinforcement, helping to preserve the integrity of the building and the safety of its occupants.

Test setup of the FRP FIRE PROTECTION REI 120 system The OLY FIRE REI 120 fire protection system is certified at the Istituto Giordano SpA testing laboratories by conducting a test campaign on a full-scale floor reinforced with carbon sheets protected by calcium silicate plates. The test was performed at an ambient temperature of 10°C To carry out the test, an experimental oven with an opening on the upper side, internally lined with bricks and equipped with: 2 support elements placed on each transverse edge of the oven at a distance of 4.2m; 8 diesel-fired double-flame burners; 2 fireplaces; Pressure detectors; Loading equipment (2 hydraulic jacks with maximum load 295KN each); Data acquisition system.
