LOW THICKNESS STRUCTURAL FLOOR SLAB
The addition of dispersed fibres in a cementitious matrix modifies its mechanical properties, counteracting the progressive opening of cracks and giving the product (concrete or mortar), after cracking, a significant residual tensile strength until zero tensile stress is reached for a significant value of the crack opening. In particular, once the matrix (micro) cracking occurs, the fibres are able to demonstrate their contribution, giving the composite a post-cracking resistance, which is practically absent in the fibre-free matrix.
