MASONRY REINFORCEMENT WITH FRP SYSTEMS

Structural safety and seismic retrofitting of masonry buildings are issues of current and significant importance within civil society. Numerous structures require structural reinforcement, and numerous seismic events have affected and continue to affect Italy over the years. Therefore, the need has emerged for ensure adequate performance of the facilities to current regulations and to numerous seismic phenomena. In this context, OLYMPUS fits in with the use of FRP composite materials made up of high mechanical resistance fibres and polymeric resins, which represent an innovative technology compared to traditional consolidation systems, guaranteeing countless advantages from both a technical and practical point of view. FRP materials, in fact, thanks to their high mechanical resistance and reduced impact on structures in terms of weight, stiffness and geometry, represent an effective solution for the consolidation of reinforced concrete and masonry structures. Furthermore, the absence of oxidation phenomena guarantees a high durability of these systems over time, eliminating the critical issues typical of traditional interventions.

Certified CVT systems

With Decree of the President of the Superior Council of Public Works no. 220 of 9 July 2015, the "Guideline for the identification. Qualification and acceptance control of fiber-reinforced polymer matrix (FRP) composites to be used for the structural consolidation of existing buildings" was approved, approved with favorable opinion no. 115/2013 of 19 February 2015 by the First Section of the Superior Council of Public Works. With regard to the use of fiber-reinforced polymer matrix (FRP) composites to be used for the consolidation of existing buildings, reference can continue to be made to the provisions of point 8.6 of the Technical Standards for Construction pursuant to Ministerial Decree 14/01/2008. For the consolidation of existing buildings using fiber-reinforced polymer matrix (FRP) composites, only materials qualified pursuant to the Guideline may be used." Application of OLY RESIN BASE DB using a metal spatula Application of OLY RESIN 20 HTG using a short-haired roller or brush Application of the OLY TEX ARAMIDE 400 UNI-AX HM fabric equipped with CVT released by the Central Technical Service of the OLYMPUS FRP line previously cut to size according to the design scheme by making it adhere to the support and applying pressure with an OLY ROLL aluminium roller Application of second coat of OLY RESIN 20 HTG using a short-haired roller or brush Final treatment with an OLY ROLL aluminum roller in the direction of the fibers, avoiding moving them, to eliminate air bubbles.
