STRUCTURAL REINFORCEMENT OF FACED WALLS
The OLYMPUS STONE FACED WALLS systems are based on the technique of
reinforced repointing of the joints and is particularly suitable for the structural reinforcement of exposed masonry where, for aesthetic and conservation reasons, it is not possible to adopt traditional or innovative consolidation techniques that in any way cover the facing. This technique is therefore optimal for the entire
Italian historical building heritage which features valuable walls and/or with strong architectural value where the conservation of the asset becomes of primary importance. The intervention, in fact, respects the principles underlying the protection of a historic building, resulting in:
-
- compatible with the material conservation of the artefact, being capable of adapting by integrating perfectly with the artefact itself;
-
- durable, as the materials used have a high resistance to chemical-physical environmental aggressions;
-
- intended to integrate (without transforming) the structure;
-
- reversible (or at least removable);
This technique can be used both to reinforce a single masonry panel and to reinforce an entire structure, also creating an effective connection between transverse walls thanks to the continuity of the steel cables that reinforce the mortar joints.
