On July 24th 2019 Carlos Andrés Alvarado Quesada, President of the Republic of Costa Rica celebrated the reopening of the Iglesya de Nicoya in the province of Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The Church underwent major restorations and seismic improvements following the damages caused by the 7.6 Richter degrees earthquake that hit Costa Rica on September 5th 2012.
